Effective Immediately, Amazon Fire TV devices can no longer be controlled over an IP network using the Control4 Fire TV IP driver (mediaplay_ip_amazon_fire.c4z).

Earlier this year, Amazon added a security layer to their 2018-generation Fire TV devices that eliminated the ability for the Control4 IP driver to control the 2018 Amazon Fire TV. Yesterday, Amazon announced that they have released new firmware (5.2.6.6) that includes this same security update and will be installed on all previous-generation Fire TV media players. This firmware will roll out slowly (and unpredictably) over the next week and will disable the ability for the Control4 IP driver to control any version of the Amazon Fire TV.

If you have customers using the Control4 IP driver to control their Amazon Fire TV, you should replace the driver with an IR version or follow the instructions in KB 2314 to move to an IP/USB control through third-party hardware and driver.
